I often feel that American designers do not get the respect that they deserve - not directional, not changing the fashion landscape, merely dressmakers. Well, if this man was merely a dressmaker, what a dressmaker he was.

Fall Must Have: Shearling Jacket
I'm obsessed with getting a shearling jacket for Fall. I want something dark, urban, and yet, snuggly. Something I can be seen dashing from cab to cool venue in. Absolutely nothing that reeks of Aspen. This could be perfect.
Ashley B Shearling Asymmetrical Jacket
$1695.

Don't normally feel sorry for tall, thin, beautiful women...
wearing delicious dresses from Alexander McQueen, but sometimes my heart goes out to them. Were they supposed to look like Teletubbies?

Fall 2014: The 1 %
The fashion industry is calling this the "New Normal." I call it "the-fashion-industry-has-no-imagination." In a rare display of practicality, designers showcased gorgeous, wearable, luxurious clothes and can find nothing more creative to call it than "normal."
I call this style "the 1%" because this clothing is meant to showcase the wealth, sophistication, and the impeccable taste of the upper classes. In times of great wealth disparity (see the 1980's), simple clothes in grey and taupe become hallmarks of the social and economic elite. Unfortunately, 99% of us cannot afford these clothes and another 47% want a government hand out of impeccably beautiful and tailored clothing. But fortunately for the 99%, this is one of the easiest trends to copy. Trip to Talbot's, anyone?
